Long, long ago we boated about on the lakes of Arizona in a 21ft SeaRay Seville II.  For two new new college grads in their first 'real' jobs, it was our first yacht.  We weren't married yet and it would be more than a decade before our daughter would arrived on scene, but we already had the dream of owning a proper yacht, "some day."  We perused yacht listings often to oogle over truly grand vessels and imagine that one day, one of them would be ours.

Three decades later, we took delivery of Ciamar - a 70ft Marquis 65 Yacht built in Wisconsin.  When asked about the name, we always explain that it derives from the Venetian Latin for "to invoke," and also plays off the Latin word for sea (mare). But that's just a cover story.  For the real story, you just need to join us on board, and ask.

We started a blog when we departed north to lead the Waggoner Guide Flotilla of 2022 to Juneau Alaska as a combination Covid escape and long shake down for our new chartering business -- Marquis Charters.  On returning to the Bay Area, we launched this website and began running luxury captained and crewed charters in the San Francisco Bay area in 2023.

We migrated our Alaska blog to our new Marquis Life blog on this site so you can see what that's like.  Select Alaska.
