Charter Contract
After we chat about how you would like your trip customized, we will document the key points in a Captained Charter Agreement sent for signature via Docusign. This agreement and any associated deposit is needed to confirm the booking.

Cancellation
A signed charter contract is required for all bookings and the actual and full cancellation details will be included in the contract.
As a general rule, charter bookings can be rescheduled but are otherwise non-refundable. On a cancelled charter, the deposits and payments made on a booking are not refundable but future payments may be cancelled if the charterer does not wish to reschedule. Cancellations may be rebooked within six months, subject to availability. Cancellations made less than 24 hours from departure may not be rescheduled, except under extreme circumstances.
If, at the sole discretion of the Captain, the charter can not start due to weather or vessel concerns, the charter will be refunded or rescheduled as you prefer. If the Captain ends the charter early due to weather or vessel concerns, a rebooking will be offered within six months, subject to availability. If the charterer no-shows or causes the charter to end early for any reason, the charter is non-refundable and not re-bookable.
Refusing to commence a charter due to denied boarding of too many humans or unapproved pets is considered a same day cancelled charter and is non-refundable and not re-bookable.
Special Event charters are non-refundable and may not be rescheduled.
Payment
We can take all forms of credit card, EFT and cash payments and have started taking Crypto payments.
A signed charter contract is required for all bookings and full payment details will be included.
In general;
A Non-refundable Deposit at the time of booking creates a date hold
Signed contract within 24 hours of a date hold confirms the charter
50% of the charter fee is due 30 days in advance
Remaining balance due 14 days in advance, including a refundable damage deposit
A damage deposit is held to cover excessive cleaning or damages. The deposit is released at the end of the charter the first business day after you disembark.
On Bareboat trips with APA, the reconciliation is reviewed with you before you depart the yacht.
Special Events:
New Years' Eve, July 4 Fireworks, Air Show Days, SailGP, Big Boat Series and Bottle Rock are examples of unique, special events where bookings are 100% due and payable at the time of booking.
Licensing, Privacy, Data
Marquis Charters is a 'by the book' operation. Our captains are USCG Licensed for vessels this size or larger, operating on the coast or inland. Our captains and crew are enrolled in and comply with an independent random drug testing program operated by the Maritime Consortium, which is the same program often used by larger, commercial passenger vessels. On any charter, any crew member who handles your alcohol is RBS Certified by the State of California. The same goes for food with food handling certification of crew. Our chefs are fully certified professional chefs who also operate their own certified prep kitchens on shore. Last but certainly not least is privacy. You can find our full PRIVACY POLICY here.
Damage Deposit
Included in your agreement is a damage deposit in the event of damage caused by you or your guests. But no worries, if you don't throw a chair through a window, throw our fancy dinnerware overboard, pour red wine on our carpets or carve your initials into our gelcoat, your deposit will be released the day after your charter. Some guests have us deduct their gratuity from their damage deposit refund to avoid carrying cash.
